Spotted seahorses have a way of romance under the waves! Courtship involves a multi-step display. It starts with dancing and a show of color by the male, along with some wooing in the form of clicking sounds. If she fancies him, they will pair for life!

Once she has chosen, they will entwine their tails and take a romantic float across the seafloor. During this float their love is consummated, and the female passes her eggs into the male’s brooding pouch. However, in the form of true romantics, the pair will repeat this ritual each morning even after pregnancy has begun.
